Kentucky Thumps Florida in Top Ten Match Up
Kentucky is unstoppable. At least it appears that way. They can beat at their game. They can beat you at yours. Their game is to play great defense and block most of your shots with freshman phenom Anthony Davis. He’s already the greatest freshman shot blocker ever. Last night against the Gators. he was blocking three point shots and layups alike. Florida’s game is to bomb away from the three point line. Last night with Doron Lamb doing his best Lee Humphrey impression, the Kats hit more than Florida did. In fact the Gators missed 14 of their first 16 in the Kats 78-58 win. With Davis patrolling the paint, even shots he didn’t block were often errant because of the threat of his long wing span. Repeatedly, Florida missed bunnies. The way it looks now, UK will likely go 16-0 in SEC play. They not only are not losing any games, they are not even having to sweat. 20 point and 30 point blowouts are the norm. Even when #7 comes to town and grabs an early lead, holding the Kats scoreless for the first four minutes, by half time it’s a runaway. “We have this little swagger,” freshman Anthony Davis said. “We just want to go out there and play hard and win. We’re very capable of winning a national championship if we keep playing how we’re playing.” “We play together so well - we enjoy playing together on offense and defense. We communicate. We just have fun out there,” said Marquis Teague, who had 12 points and a career-best 10 assists. “It makes us play harder when you enjoy who you’re playing with.” “The one thing I like about their team is I love their disposition on the floor,” Florida coach Billy Donovan said. “There’s a certain disposition you have to have and I’m not talking about an arrogance or a cockiness, but there’s like a focus level in terms of what really goes into winning at that level. There’s a mentality there.” On how good of a team Kentucky is, Florida Coach Billy Donovan had this to say: |
