Derrick Rose is NBA’s 2011 MVP
Derrick Rose, who wears number 1, has received the award that says he is indeed number 1.
On Tuesday, Rose was officially became the youngest player to win the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award.
Rose gave a statement at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort that said, “It’s amazing. This is only my third year and I’m still learning things about the game, I’m still having careless turnovers, things like that. But to get MVP at 22 years old, it makes me want to push harder.
He also said that he will give the trophy that is included with the MVP title to his mother. He told her how much he appreciated her and said that the trophy would be a perfect gift for Mother’s Day.
Rose helped the Chicago Bulls achieve a 62-20 record this season, which was the best mark in the league. He was the best player on the floor during the times with Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer were out due to injuries.
Rose, who was also the Rookie of the Year in his first season, had a season average of 25 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.7 assists, and this is just his their year playing on the national level.
Rose became the second member of the Bulls to win an award this year. Head Coach Tom Thibadeau was named Coach of the Year.
On Monday, the Bulls fell to the Hawks in Game 1 of this series and Rose reinjured his left ankle, which is already sprained; however, he indicated that he will play on Wednesday anyway.
Michael Jordan was the most recent Bull to be awarded the MVP title before Rose.
