NBA Basketball Season Opens Tonight

The preseason is over. It’s time to tip it up for real. Tonight, basketball season begins in the NBA. The Washington Wizards will visit the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7:00. The Cavs are 5.5 point favorites on books such as Oddsmaker. The Wizards are without starting point guard John Wall to start the season. But they will be looking forward to seeing #3 pick in the draft Brad Beal make is debut. Kyrie Irving, last season’s Rookie of the Year, enters year two as the Cavs continue to try to rebuild following the defection of Lebron James to the Miami Heat. Speaking of the Heat…

Ray Allen will make his debut in black and red against his former team, the Boston Celtics. The Heat will raise their championship banner and get their rings tonight in Miami before the game. The Celtics stars Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce seem to have a bone to pick with Allen. When asked if they’ve talked to Ray, Pierce and Garnett have said they have nothing to talk to him about. This could be fun. Oddsmaker has the Heat -6.5. This might be a good night to bet on the Celtics.

And in the late game tonight, the Dallas Mavericks minus Dirk Nowitzki, will take on the Los Angeles Lakers, who may be minus Kobe Bryant. Oddsmaker has the Lakers at -8.5. With Dwight Howard and Steve Nash making their Laker debuts tonight, all eyes will be on this game. The Lakers are the favorites to unseat the Oklahoma City Thunder this year in the Western Conference. They had better do it this year, because they have some aging stars in Nash, Ron Artest, Pau Gasol, and Bryant. This season might be the best this team will ever be.

The best news today is that it is finally basketball season again. We get to talk about games now instead of predictions. We cannot wait until tip off!
