Knicks Beat Nets on Kidd Three Pointer 100-97
Carmelo Anthony led the New York Knicks with 45 points to help them score a win over their newest rival, the Brooklyn Nets in the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn. Jason Kidd broke a 97-97 tie with a three pointer with 18 seconds left and was fouled on the shot. He missed the free throw however and left the door open for a Nets three pointer to tie at the buzzer. But Gerald Wallace and Deron Williams missed potential tying threes.
New York improved their record to 16-5 while the Nets fell to 11-9. Andray Blatche led the Nets with 23 points and Deron Williams chipped in 18 points. The Nets and Knicks have quite the rivalry going in the Big Apple with these first two meetings, both of which went down to the wire, one won by each team.
”It is (a rivalry). I mean, after that first game, we might as well accept that,” Anthony said. ”It is what it is. They’re on our division, we see them four times a year. It is a rivalry. It’s great for New York to have that in Brooklyn and in Manhattan. When we come here it’s a battle. When they come there, it’s going to be a battle. We expect that.”
