Dallas Loses to Barcelona as Dirk Doesn’t Play

Dirk Nowitzki sat out the Dallas Mavericks game with FC Barcelona Regal on Tuesday due to a swollen knee. The Mavericks lost the game 99-85. It was the Mavericks second game in Europe. They beat Alba Berlin 89-84 on Saturday in Berlin. Chris Kaman had  15 points and 10 rebounds for the Mavericks in the game. Vince Carter had a dunk on a fast break to tie the game at 25-25 in his 22 minutes of action. Elton Brand had a nice game with 10 points and Darren Collison had 14 points for Dallas.

Juan Carlos Navarro and Pete Mickeal both had 19 points for Barcelona. The Mavericks trimmed an 18 point deficit to six points on a Collison jumper in the fourth quarter, but that would be as close as they would get as Barcelona took over from there.

In other preseason NBA action, the Golden State Warriors followed up their win over the Los Angeles Lakers with an 83-80 win over the Utah Jazz on Monday night. David Lee had another good game, leading the Warriors with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Brandon Rush added 14 points ans Stephen Curry made his return to the Warriors, his first action since a season ending injury last March 11. Enes Kanter had a double double for the Jazz with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 97-80. Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis each had 15 points to lead the Bucks. C.J. Miles led the Cavs with 18 points while Kyrie Irving pumped in 16 points in the losing effort. Mike Dunleavy had 12 points and Tobias Harris also had 11 points as Milwaukee maintained a double digit lead from the second quarter throughout the rest of the game. six Bucks in all finished in double figures.

In Chicago, the Chicago Bulls beat the Memphis Grizzlies 92-88. The Bulls withstood a furious Grizzlies rally with just over 3:00 to go. They cut a 89-80 lead to 89-88 with :27 left. After the Bulls hit two free throws to go up 91-88 the Grizzlies shot two contested three pointers to tr to tie the game but both clanked off the rim. The Bulls finally rebounded to hang on to the win.
